Rajon Rondo drives against the Heat (4/1/12)

The Celtics' Rajon Rondo drives against the Heat.

4/1/12: Celtics vs Heat - Final Score (91-72 Celtics)

The Celtics are on a roll!  Their 91-72 win last night was against none other than our much hated rivals, the Miami Heat.  In their fifth consecutive win, the Celtics dominated the game.  We started by jumping ahead to a 13-4 lead.  At the end of the first quarter, they had a 29-19 lead, a big part of which was due to Rajon Rondo getting 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists.  Later in the game, they went on a 17-2 run with those two points for the Heat coming from free throws.  We also went on a 13-0 run late in the third making it 72-52.. and we outscored them 31-12 in the period.  In the fourth, we led by as many as 29!  This was the Celtics’ eighth consecutive win at home and they are now 15-5 since the All-Star break.

Once again, the big story from this game was Rajon Rondo’s continued hard work and success.  He got his NBA-leading fifth triple-double of the season with 16 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds!  It was his 13th consecutive game with at least 10 assists.. which is the longest active streak in the league.  It is also the longest streak since Steve Nash had 14 in March-April 2005.

There were other big stories though, as the team played well as a whole.  Paul Pierce had 23 points and seven rebounds.  Kevin Garnett had a pretty good game and seems to be fitting in well playing center..  We’re 15-6 since moving him to that position.  Ray Allen missed his sixth straight game with a sore right ankle.. but Avery Bradley played in his place and had 13 points, as well as a great highlight-reel play when he stuffed Dwyane Wade, denying him and knocking him down.

Here’s some pictures of Bradley denying Wade (there’s a few because it was just such a great play):

With some great defense and transition play, as well as huge effort, the Celtics increased their lead in the Atlantic Division to one game over the Philadelphia 76ers.  It’s been really fun to watch this team doing so well when pretty much everyone had lost hope for them.  Hopefully they can keep playing with this same intensity, using pride to propel them and pouring their hearts into each game, because if we do, we may actually be able to make a legitimate run in the playoffs.

That means the Bruins, Celtics, Red Sox, and yes the New England Patriots.. they did play in Boston at one time after all.. and they're still our team. So, I declare Boston to be the City of Champions. ... Check us out on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/b0stonwins?ref=hl ... I just found a draft I forgot to post but I’ll mention the important part here:
Back in early March, Rajon Rondo became only the 3rd player since 1968 (joining Magic Johnson and Wilt Chamberlain) to get a triple-double with at least 17 in each category! He was also only something like 2 points and 3 rebounds away from being only the 2nd player to have 20 in each category!
So all the Rondo-haters and doubters need to chill.. he’s having a great season!
