Last night’s Bruins game at the Devils was great! We had recently lost our rhythm a little bit, and it even continued through most of this game. Going into the 3rd period, we were down 1-0 (that goal coming late in the 1st period). But then.. we came back! Bruins coach Claude Julien pulled a Bill Belichick and said exactly the right things to make the necessary adjustments during the break.. and as happens with Belichick and the Patriots at halftime, we came out looking like a whole new team.
Early in the 3rd period, Shawn Thornton shot a cross-ice pass to Andrew Ference for a slap shot goal to get us going. Then just minutes later, both Nathan Horton and Gregory Campbell scored within 35 seconds of each other! The 3 goals came within 4:44 of each other. That’s something like the 15th time we’ve scored two goals in under a minute this season alone! In the final minute of the game, Chris Kelly scored an empty-netter to finish the game 4-1 Bruins.
This was a great comeback, and a great way to head into the big game this weekend against the NY Rangers. I think the Bruins have definitely gotten back into their rhythm and are looking good going forward.
Some other notes about this game:
Patrice Bergeron played in his 500th NHL game.
Johnny Boychuk celebrated his 28th birthday. ..Happy Birthday man!
After this game, the Boston Bruins now have 19,000 goals as a franchise!
